Accuracy Matters
I’m a Keller Williams Broker. The study below was commission by the Redfin brokerage from the WAV Group, but the stats hold true for my site as well as theirs. In short the study says:
I am a MLS member therefore I have a direct MLS feed and accurate listing data on my site.
Zillow, Truila and other large aggregate portals may have lovely user interfaces, and heart-tugging commercials but they simply do not have all the listings. And the data they do have is often wildly inaccurate. The reason is complicated but it comes down to the fact that they aren’t MLS members– they are media companies in the business of selling ads to real estate agents.
Redfin learned that on average 20% of active listings are missing from most portals and 36% of the listings they do show are already under contact.
Check out Redfin’s infographic on the topic.
